Why do I need to gate both the top and bottom of my stairs?

Babies and toddlers are naturally curious. When they have easy access to the bottom of a staircase they're likely going to try climbing up. After they get up a few steps, how will they get back down? Likely the hard way. Putting a gate at the bottom of the stairs is for your child's safety and your peace of mind.

Do you install pool safety fencing?

At Kiddie Proofers we install Baby Barrier pool safety fencing which meets all local pool and safety by-laws. This product is made in the U.S.A and comes with a 10 year manufacturers warranty. Call us to arrange an appointment for consultation and measurement for your pool.

How do I measure my stair openings for gates?

Every opening is different. To measure the width of your openings take a tape measure and place it along the floor, then measure from post to wall or post to post. If your gate opening(s) are wider than the typical widths, we offer extensions for most gates as well as custom solutions.

Why do I need to lock up medication if it is up high?

Kids love to climb. If they want something on that top shelf, they will find a way to get to it, especially if it is a medication/vitamin that resembles candy. Always lock up medication cabinets and drawers.

Why do I need more than one fire extinguisher in my home?

There are different types of extinguishers that are best suitable for certain kinds of liquids and equipment. BC fire extinguishers are best kept in the garage and kitchen while ABC extinguishers can be kept throughout your home. Expiration dates should be checked annually.

Tips & Advice

What are common mistakes people make when installing car seats? Any helpful tips?

People often make the mistake of not tightening the harnesses enough or not knowing how to properly thread the restraints to ensure enough leverage when installing. Other mistakes include purchasing a seat that is not the best fit for your vehicle.

There are YouTube videos and videos on manufacturer websites that demonstrate proper installation techniques. To ensure your child is riding safely and securely in their car seat, it is best to have an experienced professional technician install your seat, explain its functionality and show you how to use it properly.
